Halloween on Pine

Halloween on Pine

Halloween on Pine

Come out and party at Halloween on Pine!

A Frightening FREE Halloween Festival – 8PM – MIDNIGHT • Pine & Broadway

  • Fabulous food and drink specials from your favorite local eateries.
  • Haunting sights and sounds by DJ Groovy Lu
  • Diabolical dancing by moonlight
  • Hair-raising comedy showcase by the Laugh Factory
  • COSTUME CONTEST! Over $1,000 in prizes: Best Superhero • Best Villain • Best Female Overall • Best Male Overall • Most Outrageous

The event, while not outright ADULT ONLY, I was advised that it’s going to be a bit on the rowdy side, like mini West Hollywood.  So if you want to keep your kids from seeing things they’ll ask about later *ahem*, you might want to sneak out without them.

On a selfish note, I am performing Thriler with a group of Thrill the World Los Angeles and OC zombies at 8:30, then I’ll teach for an hour, and perform again at 9:45.  After that, I’m free to party down.

Join me, won’t you? :)

Long Beach Zombie Creep

…a.k.a. Zombie Pub Crawl this Saturday.

ETA – @oakmonster is assembling a group of @lazombies for a surprise performance at the V Room at some point. So, come on down! …and since nobody replies thus far, I’m just going to cancel this.

Assemble for a night of anarchy and immortalize the 3rd annual 2009 ZOMBIE PUB CREEP!

The alarm has rung to the depths of the grave and the dead are pissed again at the City of Long Beach. This can only lead to one thing “Zombify” yourself and reek havoc upon innocent civilians with us. NO LIVES ALLOWED.  If you’re ready to grab death by the horns and force fear upon humanity, you’re long wait for the bloody zombie nation is over.

The concept is easy; it’s about becoming deceased for one evening to unleash the most unruly of behavior by “zombifying” yourself. Deck yourself out in the deadliest and most creative ways-any way you can think of.

The zombies gather in an unsuspecting crowded area (in this case, Long Beach) and then it begins; zombies, victims, mayhem and booze.

Crawl Lineup:
8pm-10pm V Room 918 E. 4th St.
10pm-12am Cheapshots 941 E. 4th St.
12am-2am Ferns Cocktails 1253 E. 4th St.Any questions? Ask, otherwise we’ll see your rotting corpses there.

Splish! Splash!

It’s time to celebrate the end of summer. Some of the kids are back in school, some of the adults too. Hot!Hot!Hot!

WOW! Had a blast last night at The Reef. It turned into a Girls’ Night Out with me, @torie007 and @ResaMichelle. Torie and I were very basic beginners and Resa has salsa’d recently. At 8:30 the lessons began. The broke us into two groups, Beginners and Professionals. Erica was a really good teacher for the beginners. I’ll be honest, this was my very first time salsa dancing and the first time I had been out dancing in a very, very, long time.

 LBCTweetup at The Reef

Omar the bartender apparently hooked Resa up before I got there and she can attest to the quality of his drinks. I had three  of Terry’s (the other bartender) 007’s. I would have had more but he ran out of Bacardi O.  The $1 tacos were much larger than I expected and pretty tasty as well.LBCTweetup at The Reef

After the lessons they opened the dance floor up. Apparently there were already some regulars and I heard that the Long Beach Salsa Club meets there. No shortage of good dance partners.

I’m hoping to do another tweetup here with a larger group and maybe the SMAPs. Excellent service from the staff, great dancing, and so much fun!

Torie, Resa, feel free to add your impressions.

Let’s Salsa!!

May-4-Drag-FundraiserWhat: AIDS/LifeCycle Drag Benefit to support Oakley’s friend Greg’s first ride!

When: Monday, May 4. Drinks and greet 8-10 p.m. Show starts at 10 p.m.

Where: Hamburger Mary’s – 740 E. Broadway Avenue, Long Beach.

How much: $10 cover charge donation

My good friend Greg, a Lakewood native and Long Beach resident, is participating in his very first AIDS/LifeCycle, a fully supported, 7-day bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, May 31 – June 6, 2009.  That’s 545 miles, y’all!

THAT is dedication that we can–and should–get behind!

On Monday, May 4th, Greg is dusting off the frock and, well, dragging out of the closet his alter-ego ANGELICA STRANGE DEVILLE to the stage to raise money for his AIDS/LifeCycle ride.  $10 cover donation with raffles and games and a LOT of fun.  Cocktails from 8-10 p.m.  Show starts at 10 p.m.

Certainly, I will be there!

This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity…see it now or never!  (You may be better off with never, he said…)  Having had met Angelica before, I can guarantee you, this will be one heck of an evening!

To support Greg without going to the show, please make a TAX DEDUCITBLE donation to Greg.

AIDS/LifeCycle is co-produced by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and is designed to advance their shared interest to end the pandemic and human suffering caused by AIDS.
